Papers of Everett R. Combs, 1914-1957.

The collection consists of his personal and political correspondence. Some papers of his successor in the clerkship, E.F. Hargis, are included. The papers contain a great deal of information on the Democratic party in Virginia, state and local politics, and especially the 1925 gubernatorial campaign of Harry Flood Byrd. Correspondents include Byrd and George Campbell Peery. The collection also contains printed miscellaneous material and photographs about Combs and Virginia government. A 1956 copy of the Manual of the Senate and House of Delegates is included.

Theodore Roosevelt Dalton was born 3 July 1901 in Carroll County, Virginia, the son of Currell and Lodoska Maritn Dalton. he received his B.A. from the College of William and Mary as well as his law degree.
